Today in history.

Today deserves a write up.
First & foremost, my firstborn went for her first ever school trip today.
Sent her to school like I normally do, drove off & parked in front of the bus just to see her get on.
I had the option of following her, & I did contemplate on it,
But last week I absentmindedly made plans with Lin for today (simple error of her suggesting the 26th while I had 'next Wednesday' in my head for Hilwa's trip lol).
Took it as a sign I should let her go on her own.. I mean, so not cool for mommy to tag along on her trip. She IS six 🙄 bahahah
Anyways, trip went great.
They visited a chocolate factory, I told her that whatever she's buying, she needs to buy one for Izzaz too.. & she remembered.
First thing she did when she got home was split her spoils into two equal piles & gave her brother. Mama proud :')
After the chocolate factory, they went to G2G Animal Garden, which is a petting zoo similar to Farm in the City by the looks of their Instagram & pictures Hilwa's teacher sent.
Initial plan was Farm in the City, but last minute change of plans. Oh well, same difference.
Hilwa said she didn't touch the snake & iguana (she called it Gekko for obvious reasons), but she did pet a cat lol.
Then they had lunch at KFC, which I told her teacher yesterday that she only eats nuggets & fries but the picture her teacher sent me she had a piece of chicken & nasi in front of her.
I asked her what she had for lunch, she said nuggets, so I guess they rectified that.
& what's important is she didn't start crying like she did during their teacher's day celebration lol.
They got back to the school at 3.30pm & she proudly told me she slept on the bus.
Been a champ all day, I'm so so proud :')

As for me, after Hilwa got on the bus I picked Lin up, had breakfast with her then went plant hunting!
It's probably the first time I've been to a nursery as an adult, on my own, & initiated by myself lol.
Got some plants & succulents for the house, practiced restraint & only spent RM56 (the RM10 chilli plant for Yaya doesn't count),
& Izzaz enjoyed himself chasing chickens.
Yes, the nursery has live chickens roaming around.. we found one sitting in a pot on top of a very high shelf bahahaha I can't believe I forgot to snap a photo!
Then from the nursery we went to visit Wan & baby Suhaila!
Had lunch & coffee with my girls, got to wear Suhaila in a ring sling & rocked her to sleep, caught up with each other for 3 hours.
It's time very well spent by my standards.

I thought both Hilwa & I would be knocked out when we got home (Izzaz passed out in the car, like literally splayed out in the backseat),
But thanks to her nap in the bus they both were quite energetic.
& let it be known that I'm at a point in my life where I would prefer to walk as much as possible everyday, so I brought them down on a mission.
To 7e to buy bread, which wasn't available, so onwards to Jaya Grocer.
What the hell, let's Wizards Unite on the way bahaha.
We passed the big playground next to block D so the kids demanded to play, turns out it's within range of Surau Damansara Perdana which is an inn in Wizards Unite.
Item 3 on the mission list was to go find small rocks & gravel to mix in with my potting soil so I can repot the succulents I got. Success.
& on our walk back home we passed the pool cafe so why not tapau dinner bahaha.
Felt so good to accomplish so many things on a short half hour walk.
Now I'm literally melting off the couch but somehow these goons ain't sleeping yet x_x

FFR.

This should actually be a tweet, or a Facebook status.
But because I haven't posted any of those two in a loooong time, I don't feel comfortable to do it today.
Hence,
Hank's voice is so calming to me.
For future reference.
Also, I'm gonna start sneaking Crash Course & Scishow into my kids' YouTube playlist.
Mostly because of the above.

Ticking time bomb.

My reality check came when I was about halfway through carrying Hilwa in my tummy.
Gestational diabetes mellitus.
That's when I knew it was a matter of when, not if, I will get type 2 diabetes.
I've always known my grandmother & most of my mother's siblings have diabetes,
& I've always kinda known it's hereditary.
But when I was confirmed with it during my first pregnancy, at the age of 25, I could almost hear the clock start ticking.
But with childbirth came breastfeeding & I was comforted by how fast I was losing weight & how efficiently I was keeping it off regardless of how I was eating & the amount of sugar I was taking in.
Fast forward about 5 years later,
I turned 30, the dynamics shifted, & I weaned off Izzaz.
& boy, hello obesity.
My BMI was well in the overweight section, & my body fat percentage tells me I'm obese.
But above the ill fitting clothes,
The shortness of breath when I sit cross-legged on the floor & leans forward to fold clothes,
The pain & numbness in my legs when I stand & walk after,
The self consciousness of being bigger than I used to be,
Is the ultimate nagging feeling that I could check my blood sugar right now & find out I'm diabetic.
& if it takes paying a company to put me on a diet program to buy me some more (a lot more, I hope) time, then so be it.
I just realized I've managed to kick my sugar addiction in just 2 months without much withdrawals,
I get up better in the morning, most importantly eager to start sweating,
& the cherry on top is my husband's been checking me out pretty often lol.
So this is a reminder to myself for those days I get a negative comment or two on "dieting".
It's not about the inches, it's about the mmol/L.

Touchy.

My OnePlus 3 is dying.
I can no longer get a signal on it, so I've been living on WiFi/hotspot this past one week with my simcard in the kids' phone.
I honestly don't have any problems with this arrangement but I know it's not feasible in the long run to always bring the kids' phone out with me simply because I need to piggyback its hotspot.
Especially when I wanna go out without the kids lol.
So logical course of action is buying a new phone duh,
& it's making me feel so sad I can't even.
I thought maybe coz this was the first phone I owned after being a mother, & I'm all touchy feely clingy now but nahh..
Got the Nexus when I was pregnant with Hilwa & then the HTC E8 after that one,
Which reminds me, both went down in flames during my fits with the kids bahahaha!
Oh yes I had such a bad temper, I still do every once in a while,
But throwing around my phones when I lose it was normal.
I threw this OnePlus once too, I had it barely 9 months.
Busted the screen & cost me rm800 to replace. Or was it 900?
That was the last time I threw my phone bahahaha!
So I don't know if it's maturity, or simply because I've spent so much on this phone with all the fixes (I've even gone through the trouble of sending it to the service center for several days, collecting it unfixed with them telling me they can't do anything coz it's a China model aka not ori we don't layan, then drove to directd pulak, just to fix the volume button),
But yeah I'm sad.
I'm honestly not ready to part with it, I honestly thought I had at least another year of usage,
I'm borderline feeling like I'm about to give away one of my kids for no good reason.
& I'd go as far as saying I feel like there's no room in my heart to love a new phone bahaha
So I'm dragging it out as long as I can,
Taking my time to say goodbye,
& until Ikhwan makes the initiative to take me out & buy it, I'm not going to.
It'd be nice to suddenly be surprised with one though.. amidst a bed of rose petals on the bed or something bahahah
In the words of a friend, I miss being able to afford things with MY OWN MONEY haihh
